The Helle Temegami was designed by Les Stroud (aka Survivorman) and made by Helle in Norway. The Temegami is available in 2 versions – laminated stainless steel (HEL 300) and laminated carbon steel (HEL 302) and is designed in the Norwegian style.
The knife was named the Temegami by Les Stroud after the region in Canada in the "Canadian Shield". The vast wilderness of Temegami allowed the knife to be tested in real wilderness environments.
Handle: The Temegami has a full length tang, which is exposed along the spine of the handle. The Masurian (curly) birch handle soaked in linseed oil to permeate the wood; then rolled in bee's wax for a durable satin finish and superior grip.
Blade: The blade (triple laminated carbon steel) is attached securely to the handle with 3 brass pins or rivets and a brass lanyard tube at the butt end.
Sheath: The handmade leather sheath is adapted from a classic design and incorporates a plastic safety liner and a riveted belt loop. The knife fits snugly into the sheath and is designed to be easily usable with the left or right hand.
Striker: The grooves on the back of the blade make this tool a superior striker for fire steels.
